Engineering Data, Investing in Tomorrow, Journeying Through Life.

Hello, I’m Yong Jin

I wear many hats – from a Data/Software Engineer to a husband, and soon-to-be father. I’m also an avid reader and a curious soul, always in pursuit of knowledge and growth.

My Journey:

After migrating to the United States at 14, I made Virginia my new home, and it has held a special place in my heart ever since

Education has always been my compass. My passion for problem-solving led me to pursue a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Virginia. Hungry to dive deeper into the world of data, I acquired a graduate certificate in Data Science from George Mason University and later earned my Master’s in Computer and Information Technology from the University of Pennsylvania.

My professional journey began with a serendipitous opportunity at a burgeoning big data startup. That’s where my romance with data started. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in data analysis, engineering, and software development. I’ve had the privilege of working for industry leaders like GitHub, Meta, and Spotify. The collective experiences and insights from these roles have been invaluable. Currently, I’m lending my expertise to Etsy as a contractor, helping them elevate their data practices.

Since getting married in May 2019, I’ve gained quite a few pounds. My wife is an excellent cook.

On the Homefront:

My wife, Eunji, and I are eagerly awaiting the newest addition to our family – a baby girl. Our home is abuzz with anticipation and joy as we prepare for her arrival.

Why This Blog?

While I’ve always been introspective, I’ve also realized the importance of articulating my thoughts. Despite the challenges (I admit, writing doesn’t always come naturally to me), I believe in the power of practice. This blog, an evolution of my portfolio on GitHub Page, serves as a canvas for my musings and a showcase of my professional journey.

I genuinely hope my writings resonate with you. Whether you’re here for technical insights or personal anecdotes, I welcome your feedback and connection.
